GDP: Another fake Increase

Today’s GDP report showed an “increase” in 1st Q growth of +0.9%, upwardly revised from the previous +0.6% from 4/30/08. But this “increase” was due solely to a “decrease” in Imports. Today’s revision came from a $25.4 billion DECLINE in US spending–in this case on imports.Thus, a “decrease” in US spending gave an “increase” in GDP growth.
